Google Home pucks, Nest Hubs, Nest Hello, all showing drops/errors/retry’s on wifi.

I have multiple google home pucks, and multiple Nest Hub displays and multiple Nest thermostats in my home (also Nest Cameras, and a Nest Hello device)

The house is configured with an Aruba Wi-Fi network 2Ghz and 5Ghz and about another 25 clients (PCs, tablets, phones, TVs, smart home devices etc). IN ADDITION to the google devices….these are non-google devices.

The google home pucks, and especially the Nest Hub displays throw off a crazy amount of errors/drops/retries. I’m not seeing any errors/drops/retries from the non-Google equipment.

Google hardware appears current on firmware.

Aruba access points (IAP 225s) have firmware version 8.6.0.16_83052

Having frequent network issues and the only clients I see showing issues are the google devices. Example screenshot attached, and many of the google devices look like this. (Note for the Nest Hubs in the wifi client lists, the OS identifies as ‘Playstation’ by the Wi-Fi APs, but obviously that’s not a PlayStation)

Thank you for your thoughts.

Hi KevH,

Sorry for the late response. Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

Are you experiencing issues on your Nest devices when interacting with them? If so, could you tell us more about what's happening?

It is normal for some routers to show data usage from Nest devices as they are counting any data transmitted on the local network. Communication happens between Nest devices and other devices on the network while they’re not in use, but this traffic stays on the local network and does not reach the internet so it should not affect your data cap.

Looking forward for your response.

Best,

Juni
