Google Hub Mini or Max

Epiman123

Hi

Has anyone out there been experiencing issues with their Google Hub Max or mini lately with displaying video feed from a Next Hello or Nest security camera? I get constantly now the message on screen that the camera feed is not available and no image is present (just a white screen).

I have to either cycle the feed on and off to get back the image or unplug the Google Hub to reboot it. The cycling and unplugging only works for a bit then it starts the same issue all over again. I noticed that it has been getting steadily worse over the last six months where prior to that it was happening the odd time.

Going through the actual NES app is fine as I can view live or recorded, it is just trying to view live the Nest Hello and security camera feed via the display from a Google Hub ( Max or mini). I have three different displays (Google Hub, 1 Max and 2 mini) and they do all the same thing now.

I reached out Google several times for asssitance and so far not luck on their end in finding what the issue is. I even rebooted  and reinstalled the nest hello and security camera and the issue still exists.

Any thoughts as I ready to remove the displays and look for some other type of display to show what is on my Nest Hello and security camera.

Thanks

Hey Epiman123,

Sorry for the delays. I just wanted to check if you are still experiencing the same issues when streaming your camera on your Nest display. A recent firmware update has been rolled out, so we wanted to verify if that has resolved the issue.

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

  • Hi thanks for reaching out.  I still get the same issue with getting the message “camera feed  is not available”.
  •  So I am not sure what fixes were done as I do not see any improvement. I even went out and bought a new outdoor camera to replace my current powered nest camera and it did the same. I was also not too impressed with the battery life with your new camera as one charge only lasted less than 9 hours from full charged to being dead in the water. I am not intending to climb a ladder every day to take down the camera and recharge the battery. I returned it promptly and have started to look at other cameras and displays as I am not too impressed with the functionality of either right now.
  • Things were working quite good for a period time so I not sure what google did to nest products to improve them but the effect is the opposite for me.  I do not use the displays ( all three of them) any more  because of the inability to display my camera and nest hello  (old model and new model) and that I find it cumbersome that I have to look at nest for some functionality and then google home for other functionality depending on what camera/nest hello I use.
  • All that to say I am not not too impressed with these products right now as I spent a lot on money to purchase them and they do not function as intended. Epiman123
