Google Mini Home - Not recognizing Specific I-Heart Channel

justbs549
Community Member

When I tell Google Home "Play 'True Oldies Channel' on IHeart", it instead always gives me "Playing 'True Oldies' From 95.9 and 106.9 on IHeart", which is not the same channel.

I-Heart support staff seem to think it's Google's problem.  It seems like Google Home Mini is only recognizing the first 2 words 'True Oldies' before giving me a response, and not listening to the whole name, which is 'True Oldies Channel'.

Any thoughts?

Hi justbs549,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, try to play other radio stations or a song from YouTube or Spotify and see if the issue persists.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

Have always had the issue with trying to access this particular station.

I can access any other station just fine.

Tried all of the above, same result.

Hi justbs549,

Thanks for confirming that. Since the issue only exists on one radio station, it looks like it's within that specific radio station. I would recommend reaching out to that station to get some updates from them.

Princess

Actually, I have, and they confirmed it's a problem with Gooe recognizing the channel name, confusing itbwotha similarly named station

Hi justbs549,

We're sorry for the late response. We just like to follow up and see if you are still experiencing the same thing on that specific radio station?

Best,

Princess

Unfortunately, YES, the problem still exists.

I've tried asking it multiple ways, such as "Play Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel' on IHeart", but it continues to ignore the specific channel requested and gives me "Playing True Oldies' From 95.9 and 106.9 on IHeart", which is not the same channel.

Also, I noticed if I cast the correct IHeart station from my phone to my Google Home, when I ask Google Home "What Radio Station is playing", Google Home responds with "True Oldies Radio".

Hi justbs549,

Thanks for the additional info. It looks like there are updates on that specific radio station since others are working okay. Let's continue checking on its behavior and see if there would be any changes. You might also want to reach out to the radio station for updates.

Princess

None of the suggestions have helped, including working with the station.

The problem lies within Google Home's interpretation of the specific phrase I am saying, and instead giving me the wrong station....it appears Google is not as smart at AI ChatGPT?
