I purchased a Google Nest Doorbell (battery) and it streams fine to the Google Hub when opened on the Hub. However, if a person presses the doorbell button, a message of "Camera feed is not available" is displayed on Google Hub.
I can immediately "Ok Google, show me the doorbell" and the stream works just fine.
In case this was due to the camera running from the battery, I connected it to a power source and the same issue occurs.
I saw this thread by user @amerpastco was closed without a resolution posted. I wanted to follow up on this issue as I am experiencing the same thing. (Another closed thread without resolution *at the time of writing this* was by @Mmcginnis1024 who has the same issue along with at least 3 others who interacted within the thread.)
Troubleshooting steps taken so far:
After all of this, the issue persists which is extremely frustrating as I purchased this for my parents. I have the Nest Doorbell (wired) at my house and it works perfect with my Nest Hub (2nd Gen) every time someone rings the doorbell. Even more frustrating, there are several other discussion boards for this same issue and NONE of them get resolved. The "community specialists" keep closing these threads out without ANY resolution and that is not right. Someone at Google has to know what is causing this as it clearly is not an isolated issue.
Any advice/resolution would be much appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi Brad,
No this issue is very much still ongoing and it makes me want to return all of my google products. A resolution would be much appreciated as these products are not working as advertised.
Thanks.

Same with me…I would like a resolution because I bought the food hub for the doorbell and the doorbell feature isn’t working properly on the hub and it sounds like you are saying there is no fix?

The funny part about this is that I posted a response to the bogus “I have bad news for you, it’s probably not going to work” response I got back from google and somehow it got deleted….
i only purchased the hub for the doorbell capabilities….seems like a waste of money now because no one is helping.

Haha of course it got removed. When I read that response from the specialist I lost faith in their incident review process. Clearly the process is broken here and them closing it out without a resolution makes it 10x worse. Like you, I only purchased the Nest Hub for my new doorbell. I bought them with each other as it is literally advertised on their website to work that way and it doesn't. Very disappointed. Closing out one discussion and simply saying to open a new one if the problem persists will not help anything.

Disappointed as well because we have four google homes, multiple outdoor cameras, the doorbell, multiple CO2/smoke detectors, and now the hub. Hoping it would all work seamlessly, but now the hub seems like a waste of a purchase to me.

Just out of curiosity, what version of nest aware do you have? I have nest aware (1st gen) and I am paying for 2 cameras/year. I'm wondering if this could explain why the doorbell stream doesn't work when someone is at the door. It's a long shot but it's the best I can think of. I am probably going to upgrade my nest aware plan to one of the new ones offered and see if that resolves my issue.
A new issue I have found is that I can't save down any event videos from my doorbell through the google home app. It fails every time and I gave it permission to access my photos which brings me back to the plan I might be on. I will update my plan and let you know if that resolves anything.

Not sure which one I have but we pay like 7 dollars a month.

Update 1/12/2022:
I upgraded my plan to the latest one offered and that allowed me to name faces on the doorbell, but I still have the main overall issue where when someone rings my doorbell I get the error message “Camera feed is not available.” Like others, when I prompt the google nest hub to see my doorbell it appears without hesitation. My friend has the old nest wired camera working with his google nest hub (second gen) without issues. There is something broken with the code for receiving notifications using the new nest doorbells and the google nest hub.
In addition, I also noticed I get a blank image when receiving notifications on my apple watch. It will not show the preview that I can see in my phone notifications. @Brad if this post could somehow be escalated to a software team at google, a lot of us would be very happy.

I have the same issue with Apple Watch. Less mission critical than the Home Hub problem, but would be good to have fixed at some point.

+1 on this topic. Having the same issue reported: Video streaming from Nest Doorbell (battery) to Nest Home Hub works fine when activated directly via voice command, but not when someone actually rings the doorbell. This results only in the error message “Camera feed is not available”.
Given the amount of people who evidently have this issue, and how central of a use case this is for all of us, it would be good to see Google putting some actual attention into solving this.

Hey all.
Just checking in to see if you still need assistance with this issue.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Yes this is still an issue. Extremely annoying.

Yes. Help is still needed as there hasn’t been a resolution. Thanks.

Yes….there is still no solution and it is very frustrating.

1/21/2022 Update:
This topic has been escalated and is a known issue. Hopefully we can get a resolution soon as this has become extremely frustrating. This update came from the following thread: How do I make it so I can see my doorbell camera on my hub?
In the meantime, I have tried reaching out to Google via their twitter. With any luck, maybe they will provide me with a resolution.

Update 1/24/2022:
Commenting here to say as of today (January 24th, 2022) the issue is still here and help is still needed. Please do not close this thread. Other related threads with activity as recent as 1/21/2022 are being locked. This is not right and is not solving the issue.
Thank you.

I just bought the Arlo doorbell and 2 google hub maxes. Video works fine as long as the doorbell is not ringing. When the Arlo battery doorbell rings, I am unable to stream the video to my hub, but it does work on my phone. Very annoying and defeats the purpose of the hubs. I will be returning the hubs if there issue isn’t resolved before my returnable date of 4/12/22.

Update 3/21/2022:
Just wanted to provide an update to this thread as of this past weekend. I happened to be near my Google Nest Hub this weekend when someone rang my doorbell and I was able to see the live feed on my display as advertised as opposed to seeing "Camera feed is not available." I continued ringing my doorbell throughout the weekend to see if it was just a fluke and so far it has shown up each time. I haven't conducted any troubleshooting steps in about a month so it appears that Google has fixed this bug on the backend of things.
That being said, I still have an issue where my the preview on my Apple Watch won't display when receiving a notification from the doorbell. It will say that a person was detected or the doorbell was rang and displays a blank gray image.
I hope everyone else experiencing the Google Nest Hub display issue has had the same luck as myself.
