Beginning about one month ago, my Google Nest Mini speaker refuses to stop playing music when asked to do so.
Here's the sequence of events:
The only way I've found to fix this is to unplug the Google speaker, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in again.
Note that this is a direct command to the speaker - not to my phone, or any other device.
Thoughts?

This is happening to me as well. It only started doing this about a month ago. Its annoying. The radio station will start up even after hours after I told it to stop. Just concerned it will come on in the middle of the night. Any way we can have it STOP when we tell it so?

Hi folks,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.
I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, so let’s get this resolved. A few things: Is there a chance that something touched the top surface of your Nest Mini. Were you watching TV when the device randomly turned on? Was there a Google TV commercial playing at the same time? Where is the device placed? For example: By itself, up against the wall, next to a window, next to a TV or audio speaker.
You can check My Activity log to verify what your Home Mini last heard. Check the steps below.
If you did the reboot you can do the full reset and set it up again as a new device. Then observe if this will make a difference. Check the instructions below.
Here’s how to do the reset, press and hold the factory reset button located below the power cord on the bottom of your Google Nest Mini. Look for a circle etched into the base. After 5 seconds, your Google Nest Mini will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more until you hear a sound confirming your Google Nest Mini is resetting.
Check this helpful article too and let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Juni

Thanks for posting, but this is not at all helpful. A problem has been reported that Google needs to address, rather than attempt to bury it under a flurry of level 1 support. I noted in my report that the command "Stop" was properly noted in the activity logs. This is a new problem that has emerged over the last month or so. I hope that it gets fixed.

I'm going to add my follow-up as well. I had already done a reset days before replying here, the issue still continues. There is nothing touching the top surface or even my voice communicating to it. I would be in another place in my home and I would later find out that the speaker has "turned on" again continuing to broadcast the radio station I was listening to even up to an hour before. I would have it "STOP" again, yet the speaker will turn on again minutes later. I've had to unplug and re-plug the speaker for it to stop as Greg has done. Perhaps this is helpful, once after I asked it to "STOP" I checked the google app and looked as the speaker and the speaker was noted as being "paused".
I have a speaker in my "office" and one in my "bedroom". They are not linked in a group. I would be playing something different on my "office" speaker and yet the "bedroom" speaker will play the same radio station I asked it to play earlier in the day. The one command is not getting picked up on different speakers.
I mentioned in another issue I have google commercials interrupting my radio station listening out of the blue, sometimes in different languages, it could be a connected issue. Like I said these both issues started happening about a month ago.

Hi folks,
We appreciate the details you both provided. How about when you do the command using the Google assistant on your phone? Could you both try this and see if this will give you a different result?
@vs271, thanks for mentioning the Google commercials interrupting your radio station concern, you can reply to the thread that you created, so this can be handled more efficiently as this is somewhat not related to the issue in this thread.
Looking forward to your responses.
Thanks,
Juni

I initiated a radio stream from Google Assistant on my iPhone. "Hey Google, stream **** on ***room Speaker".
Stream began immediately.
When I said "Hey Google, STOP", the stream stopped, and did not resume.

Hi folks,
@Greg02134, thank you for your confirmation. How about your Nest Mini, is the concern resolved?
@everyone, have you tried streaming using Google Assistant on your phone? How about on your Nest speakers?
Keep us posted.

Dan

Hello Dan,
To be honest, I've not asked Google to play music through my bedroom speaker since I posted my issue. I will try to do so in the next day or two, and then let you know how it goes.
Thanks for following up,
Greg

It happened to me a couple of times including now, I tapped on the speaker rather than telling it to stop. I was brushing my teeth and heard music. I wonder if it is a problem with TuneIn. It came on to play an ad after stopping the other day.

I rebooted both my speakers. It still happens. This is a google bug. Please have the developers look into this and fix this for the next update. As I said, this started about 2 months ago now, this is on google's end. Please fix. Thanks.

I have the same issue, it's streaming music on a radio station, I tell it to "Stop" and it does, but minutes later comes back on again. I unplugged my bedroom one because it comes on in the middle of the night sometimes!

the issue is still happening. The workaround is unplug and then replug the speaker. Its shouldn't be like that. When will the next update happen?

Hello,
Just joining this thread since I am having the same issue.
My Google morning routine is set to play radio on my speaker group. I started having this issue when I added my mini display in the fall. I have to stop media from my Google Home app. But that's annoying when I'm running out the door in the morning. I should be able to just yell "stop" like I used to.
I wasn't unaware this was even an issue since the music would stop when I asked it to, but over the holidays while I was at home, music would randomly start playing again 5min-1hr later. Apparently, my landlord had been going upstairs to my apartment to unplug the speaker!

Hoping that I will see some help with this problem, but it seems a while since any action on this thread. Is there a solution out there?
