Google Speakers Not Playing Radio After Short Time

Hello all,

I've been having issues over the past few months with my Google speakers; Google Home, Google Mini 2nd generations. I ask the Googles to play the radio (Hey Google, play Rock 95.) to which they respond, "streaming Rock95 from TuneIn." then they will play for roughly three to five minutes then immediately cuts out. Sometimes it will come back on after 10-12 minutes for a 15-30 second span than off again. I've tried rebooting every single one, I have reset my router, and I have even factory reset all of them next to my router before restarting it, same issue. What is strange is the Nest Hub plays the radio with no issues.

ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi dsummers95,

We appreciate you taking all those steps. Let’s further look into this. A few questions: are your Google Home speakers previously playing TuneIn radio just fine? Do you have a subscription with TuneIn? Have you tried asking Google Assistant on your phone to play a radio station on TuneIn to see if it works? If not, give it a try.

Do these troubleshooting steps:

  • Unlink and relink your TuneIn account. Settings > Services > Radio.
  • Unplug one Google Home speaker for a minute > Plug it back in. Give it a test command. If the issue persists;
  • From the Google Home app, go to Devices > Tap one of your Google Home speakers > Settings > Remove device > Remove.
  • Create a new Home.
  • Within the new home, tap Devices > Scroll down to Other cast/Local devices > Tap on the Google Home speaker you removed > Add to a room.
  • Link your TuneIn account and give it another test command.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex

Hello Alex,

Yes the speakers were playing with no issues up until about four months ago and the Googles all defaulted to TuneIn. No I do not have a subscription. Same thing, will play for a few minutes then just stop.

I can’t link or unlink TuneIn through the app there is no option. I have unplugged and plugged in each speaker like this numerous times. As well as deleting and adding. I’m not sure how creating a home will help as the home system works fine because the Nest Hub will continuously play no issues.

Thank you,

Dan
