Google assistant on the Nest display device not answering correctly

just_a_regular1

I ask Google to tell me the time in one city, by name, it types my question and city correctly on Nest Display and then it proceeds to rename the city and tell me the wrong city's time. Meanwhile, I am like: WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT?

And it does this quite a few times everyday. Used to work almost fine (it's never been perfect tbh). I wish Google would fix this quickly, as there are many people complaining about this same exact issue.

Or I ask Google to play music by a certain musician, and it proceeds to play music by other musicians and just about 30% of the songs would be the artist I actually asked for. Like, why my dude? I guess they're just expecting people to fork out MORE money and buy the YouTube music subscription, through being frustrated. That is just how BIG Corp and capitalism works, isn't it?

Sometimes, if the Google Assistant is not happy with my enunciation, it displays what it thinks I said and then corrects it. Usually the correction is in my favor (that is, the Google Assistant corrects it to what I was trying to say), but I suppose the correction could go the other way as well.  It's not perfect.

I don't have any experience with the Google Assistant playing the wrong music because I don't use that feature.

Hi folks,

@MplsCustomer, thanks for the help.

@just_a_regular1, that certainly hasn't been easy for you ― let’s check this out. May I know what type of Nest display you have? If it's with a distance, try to have your Nest display closer to your router to maximize its usage. Also, it would really help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot by unplugging the power cord of your router followed by your Nest display. Plug them back in starting with your router. Restarting your phone might also help.

Tell us how it goes.

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan. Thanks for your response. I have the Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen. I have tried all your suggestions even before posting my question on here and still no go. Have you got any other suggestions?

Hi Juni. Still behaving the same even after trying Dan's suggestions above. The Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen is only about 1 metre away from the wireless access point. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Hi just_a_regular1,

We appreciate you taking your time doing the steps provided. How about if we revert your Nest Hub back to its default and original settings by doing a factory reset. You can start fresh when you set it up again.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan
