Google devices don’t always respond

Hello,

We’ve been using google home devices for years now with no issues. We have been staying with friends while our house was being built and about 2 months ago their google devices stopped listening to me but no one else. On a device with a display, I could clearly see the text appear for what I had said, the loading dots would spin in a circle briefly then the text would just disappear which rendered the devices not usable for me. 
Fast forward to now with our house being done, and we have been able to move in and setup our google devices, and the same issue is happening for me, but it is also now happening to my partner. If we say it multiple times (more than 5 usually) eventually it responds. No error appears on the screen, google does not say anything at all, but the text still appears and then goes away like at our friends house. 
We only have one of our devices setup currently, so it is not because it’s responding on another device that we can’t hear.

I’m at a loss on how to further debug when google home does not appear to offer debug or error information, any help would be greatly appreciated!

In case someone else has this issue, I believe it is fixed now. It appears to have been a bug in google’s language handler. I changed the language to something different and then back again and it seems to be now working.
