I have been using my Google Home device for several years. Yet today, it just stopped working. Here are the facts:
A) When i vocally give it commands, it does nothing.
B) When i search for the speaker using my Google Home app, the app says it cannot find the speaker. I tried using several different mobile devices to locate the Google Home speaker. All those mobile devices used to find the speaker no problem.
C) When i unplug and replug the device, the colored lights turn on and go round and round, eventually fading to black. Then nothing.
D) I cannot launch a Factory reset -- holding down the Mute button does nothing.
E) I moved the speaker right next to my wifi hub.
F) My wifi works for all other devices in my home.

Same thing happened here. Just today November 2nd. I have a feeling that Google pushed out an update that bricked it. Here's hoping that someone sees this and helps!!

This may sound crazy, but this worked! After the 8th time that I unplugged it for 10 seconds and plugged it back in, the LED on the back started doing different things, and in about 10-20 seconds, the Google Home did a factory reset. I had to set it all back up using the app, but can confirm that this method at the link below worked for me. Good luck!
