Google home max speakers have to be added to network daily.

I have a google nest mesh routers running. I bought multiple Google home max speakers for my house. They worked great up until a month or two ago. Now they all drop off of the network daily and I have to add them back in order to stream to them. Beyond frustrating. I have other chromecast enabled speakers and dispallays that are from 3rd party manufacturere, and those stay connected no problem. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Sammyd,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? Is it only with your Google Home Max? How many Google Home Max’s are affected? Were there any recent changes made? What is the error message when it disconnects from your Wi-Fi?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router and mesh points, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.
  4. Move your Google Home Max near your router.

If a reboot doesn't fix the issue, perform a factory reset.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

Hi Sammyd,

I really appreciate you doing the troubleshooting steps. To isolate further, let’s try these:

  1. To eliminate network issues, please try setting up your device using a mobile hotspot.
  2. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home/Nest devices).
  3. Once done, check if your device will have the same behavior.

Tell me how it goes.

Thanks,

Dan

I have connected it to a different wifi router and it doesnt drop. I connected it to a mobile Hotspot and it doesn't drop either. Is there a way to view logs on the nest router to see if it is randomly restarting?

Hi Sammyd,

Apologies for the delayed response, and thank you for the information. How many mesh points do you have, excluding your main Nest Wifi router? If you have multiple mesh points, kindly switch their positions and see if your Google Home Max still drops.

Thanks,

Dan

Hey Sammyd,

Apologize for the delays. Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. Just to add, could you try disabling the iPv6 on your router and see if that makes any difference? Below are the steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorite > Wifi > Settings > Advanced Networking.
  3. Turn off IPv6.
  4. Tap Save.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

None of your suggestions worked. Bought a new router. Fixed the issue.
