Google home mini (1st gen) won't connect to Wi-Fi

Hi,

I'm trying to configure my third Google Home Mini (1st gen). I've already got two that are running fine.

I've already made multiple factory reset but it didn't change anything.

With my Android phone (Oneplus 10T), it's stuck at "Connecting to device".

With my Ipad, it connects to the Google Home Mini, plays a sound, but it blocks during the Wifi configuration.

I use a Google Nest Wifi, I tried to turn it off and restart my old wifi router, same issue, it doesn't work.

Any tips?

Hi vrobert78,

Thanks for posting—let's get this sorted out. Try to connect Google Home Mini to a temporary hotspot:

  • In order to complete the setup for your Google Home Mini with the use of a mobile hotspot, you need to have two setup devices.
    • The first phone will behave as the router. Turn on its data and hotspot.
    • The second device is the setup device. Connect it to the hotspot connection.
  • Factory reset your Google Home Mini once more.
  • Using the second setup device, open the Google Home app > Follow the set-up instructions > Choose the hotspot network on the “Connect to WiFi” page.

If Google Home Mini connects to the hotspot, proceed to the next steps:

  • While the second phone is connected to the hotspot, open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap on Google Home Mini > Settings > Device information > Wi-Fi > Forget Wi-Fi.
  • Connect the setup device back to your home Wi-Fi > Do the setup steps again and try connecting Google Home Mini to your Wi-Fi.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex
