Google nest mini and Google home mini consistently hear my "wake word"

I am using four google smart speaker devices in my home.  Also have google assistant functionality built into my LG tv, Nvidia shield, along with several Android phones.  Three of the four speakers are last generation google home mini devices.  The other is a Google nest mini.

I am largely unable to get reliable results to my voice commands from any of the smart speaker devices....  I have tried several placements, adjusted sensitivity control along with trying use of "OK google" vs "HEY google" wake words.

Most of the time there is s tv on with volume at a reasonable level in earshot of these devices.  In addition to an occasional screaming toddler that could muddy the audio that google devices could pick up for interpretation.

It's wildly frustrating that these devices cannot accept my command on a regular basis no matter what I've tried....

What advice do you offer to a household with ambient noises that prevent me from using Google Mini and Nest Mini devices?  Generally speaking my Amazon Echo Dot devices are MUCH better at hearing my commands in the same environment.

Google and Nest Mini devices have much less appeal when a simple command such as "turn off the lights" must be repeated several times -- sometimes when there isn't any ambient noises!  Surely there must be a solution to this --

Please assist... Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
