Google nest mini not playing river sounds

When asking Google to play river sounds it only plays babbling brook. This is on three separate Google nest minis. All devices have been rebooted with the same result. All other nature sounds seem to be working.

Please resolve.

I am experiencing the same thing.  I think that either Google has switched the file for the river sounds or the river sounds command was mistakenly pointed at the wrong file.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out, I understand that your Google Nest Mini isn't playing river sounds. I know that can be frustrating when you can't hear your favorite ambient sound. Don't worry, I'm here to help!

Before I can assist further, I'll need some more information. Please let me know:

  • When you ask for river sounds, do you say "Hey Google, play river sounds"?
  • Have you checked for any pending updates for your Nest Mini?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Manuel

Yes, that is the command I am using and my firmware is up to date.  It was working fine until one day last week when this issue started.

Has there been any progress with this? I want river sounds to come back!

It's beyond obvious that Google have messed around as usual, and failed to update their documentation. Testing on a hub max, you can visually confirm it is playing the wrong sound. Who knows if they will fix it...

In any event, an interim fix is to ask it to play "fast flowing river sounds". This results in it playing the correct river sounds, rather than babbling brook.

Yes!! I've either been repeating the same command "play river sounds" until it eventually cycles through and if that doesn't work I say "play rushing river sounds". The babbling brook noise is my enemy.

Hi folks

Thank you for your timely response and the comprehensive information you've provided.

I understand you're encountering some issues with the Google Home device when you try to play the river sounds. Don't worry; I'm here to help you.

To assist you further, please provide me with the following information:

  • What is the model of your Google Home device?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your environment, such as a change in Wi-Fi network or relocation of the device?
  • When did this behavior first begin?
  • Have you experienced any power outages in your area?
  • Did you notice another issue when you try to use the voice commands or just when you play the river sound?
  • What is the model of your smartphone?
  • How many Google Home devices do you currently have?
  • Are there any other devices experiencing the same problem?
  • What are the troubleshooting steps you've already tried? If so, which steps have you tried already?

Thank you for your attention. I await your response.

Sincerely,

Jeremy

I have OG Google home, multiple Google home mini v2, multiple Google home mini, and Google home hub and they all behave the same. Saying “hey Google/okay Google play river sounds” has always played the River Sounds track, but now it’s babbling brook, ALWAYS. this worked for years until it suddenly stopped working this fall. It’s so annoying. The only way I can get river sounds to actually play, is to ask it to”Play Water Sounds” which triggers it to play a random track in the water sounds category, such as babbling brook, rain, ocean, river, etc and repeating this command until I get river sounds to play. The trigger phrase/command itself is bugged, which is why nothing done to the hardware will fix the problem. This is my experience. No changes to WiFi, all software and hardware is updated, reboots and factory resets do not fix it, deleting and remaking routines does not fix it. Please look at the back end stuff
