Google nest mini not understanding weather request

MartaEss
Community Member

Today my Google Nest mini started responding "Sorry, I don't understand" when I asked it, "Hey Google, what's the weather?" I start every day with this question. My location settings are correct.

I did a factory reset and still the same response.

What's even more curious is when I ask, "Hey Google, what's the temperature outside?" (in an effort to make it understand my question) it gets my location correct but the temp COMPLETELY wrong. (It responded with, "Today in [my location] it's negative 18 degrees." For context, it is summertime and a balmy 25 degrees Celsius today!)

It is still responding to inquiries for time of day and as far as I can see, still processing other commands correctly.

Why is it all of a sudden not understanding a simple inquiry for the weather?

Hi MartaEss,

Thanks for reaching out.

I appreciate all the details you've shared. Could you please check if the address saved on your device is the address that you're using? Lastly, since you've mentioned that you already did a reset, kindly get the cast firmware of your Google Nest speakers by following this step.

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Princess
