Google nest speaker and Google assistant both responding when I say "hey Google"

I have a nest mini and I have an Android phone with Google assistant, when the speaker and the phone are in the same room and I say "hey Google turn off the lights" the speaker doesn't say anything, just lights up (as it's supposed to) but my phone still responds "ok, turning off bedroom lights." I would like for my phone to stop responding when I'm near the speaker.

They are both on the same email account and all my lights and plugs are all linked to my Google home app so my phone shouldn't be responding still, according to the help I could find online.

If I say "hey google" then the speaker hoz is the answer. And on a registered cell phone: "Answer on another device" Look at the settings of an assistant on the cell phone You may find a setting there that is responsible for controlling them. * Maybe the sentence did not come out because it is translated ..

I just recently started having this issue on January 11th.  I have a home mini and a nest mini,  but I just added the nest hub Gen 2.  Since then all of my devices including my Pixel 4 XL and my Pixel 6 Pro answer to the " Hey Google" command simultaneously. It's quite odd.

I've read another post that suggest factory resetting all Google speakers and connecting them to the 2.4 GHz router.  I indeed reset each of my three speakers and made sure they connected only to the 2.4 GHz antenna, with the same Google account. This did not better my situation at all.

Currently, and still, Google devices with assistant, respond simultaneously.  I've achieved some progress with reducing the "hey Google"  sensitivity setting to -2 for each speaker.  But when I have one pixel phone in the same room as one speaker they both will respond to the Google wake word.  Quite maddening at times but certainly entertaining when both devices spit out the same thing in stereo. 😎

I'm open to any other suggestions.

I'm having the same issue. I just noticed it yesterday after adding a new nest hub 2nd gen to my house. I asked google to play a podcast and my lenovo smart clock and phone started playing it at the same time.

I have this issue as well.  I have a nest hub and a pixel 6 and they both answer.  It's maddening.  I followed  https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7257763 and verified all the settings but it did not help.

Really how hard is it to put a setting in Google Home to specify which device in a room should answer. Or having a wake phrase like "Hey Google Nest". Seriously, it's a flawed setup if we're all trying to find a way to only get one phone or the speaker to answer the wake phrase. At least Amazon give you three choices for Alexa.

I have the same problem since some time in summer/fall 2021 with my Nest Hub 2. Back then, I had a Galaxy S10 and then switched to Pixel 6 Pro but the problem remained.

I contacted Google support and tried all their recommendations (reset Nest Hub, try 2.4 Ghz Wifi, create new Google account, ...) but in vain. Now, they even replaced my Nest Hub but this did not help either. It looks like they also have no idea... To me, this looks like a software bug. Any other ideas?
