Google speakers only playing music via spotify from one phone.

We have two separate phones attached to our google home account, with two nest speakers in separate rooms. 

 

Regardless of who talks to google to ask it to play music it will always play from my phone and not my son's, even when I am away from the home. 

 

It's incredibly frustrating when my music in my car gets interrupted by his music he is trying to play on his speaker at home. 

 

Is there an easy way to

My first guess would be that either you don't have a Spotify Duo/Family account or one of you hasn't trained Google assistant to recognize their voice. Below is a link to a Google support page about voice match with Nest devices and a link to Spotify support pages on the duo plan and family plans

Thank you. That was driving me nuts. 

Turns our that while we do have spotify duo my son had my spotify account linked via google home instead of his. Have rectified that now and it works fine 🙂
