Google suddenly stops verbal answers when responding to questions

Google suddenly stops verbal answers when responding to questions at random times.  This is an annoying issue that started about 6 months ago.  This happens on the mini 2nd gen and new hub.  Signal strength is strong.  Bandwidth is abundant and not clogged.  Rebooted both types of devices and same issues...  Any suggestions are appreciated.
