Home and Nest Mini [1st gen] sorry something went wrong

Hi we have had and used two google home mini's and a nest mini for 5+ years flawlessly until last week.  They now only respond with "sorry something went wrong" or "hm there was an error please try again".  We have rebooted them, factory reset them, rebooted our modem/router, tried changing security settings and they still do not work.  If anyone has some other ideas or tips/tricks that worked for them it would be much appreciated!  In the mean time I've ordered two new Nest Mini's from a local store that are due next week so we will see if they work upon arrival.

I’m having the same problem.  I’ve only had my two mini speakers for about two years.  I’m very disappointed in the quality of this product and I’m searching for alternatives.

Hi there!

Thanks for posting in the community. I apologize for the inconvenience caused by the Nest Mini.

I understand that you initially encountered a "Something went wrong" error message, and the troubleshooting steps you took didn’t resolve the issue. So, let's try the following:

  • Remove the device from the app
  • Restart your phone.
  • Ensure Location Services is turned on.
  • Force close and reopen the Google Home app, or uninstall and reinstall it.
  • Make sure you have the latest version of the Google Home app installed.
  • Move the speaker or display to a nearby location to rule out any interference.
  • Try using a different supported mobile device to set up the Nest Mini speaker.
  • Once you finish the previous steps, try to pair it again on the app.

If the issue persists, please let me know, and we can explore further troubleshooting options.

Thanks,

Catheryn
