Home mini cannot tell me when sunrise or sunset is. This is only a recent problem

Its fixed itself overnight.

Monashmick,

I had the exact same problem. As I said in an earlier post, they did everything else OK. They just didn't understand about sunset and sunrise. I gave up in late August after trying everything I could think of. Rebooting both Mini's, resetting them to factory default, confirming that they had the latest firmware, etc.  Also, verbally asking the Google Assistant on my iPhone Xs got me the sunset/rise info with no problem. So I finally gave up during the last week of August and started asking Siri instead.

Then, on Sept. 1st, out of pure stubbornness I once again asked a Mini for sunrise time. Without delay it answered me immediately. I tried again later and it still worked. I just now (Sept. 9) asked again and got the correct answer. I have made NO RECENT CHANGES to the Minis, my iPhone or my WiFi. The only theory I have is that whatever source the Minis use for sunrise data has a monthly quota on how many requests can be made from a given IP address. Seems like the calendar change from August to September fixed it!!

If you have any other theories about what might have happened I'd love to hear them.

Hi Monashmick and Byroonie,

Thanks for reaching out. I am glad to hear that the issue has resolved by itself! I will go ahead and lock this post since the question has been answered. I am not sure what the cause or solution to this issue was. As always, feel free to make a new post if you two have any new questions or concerns. Have a nice day.
