I have a Google Home 1st gen speaker and the speaker itself won't respond to any of the hot words ('Hey Google' or "Ok Google').
The unit has been power cycled, I did a full factory reset, made sure the mic is not muted, tried the long hold on the top of the speaker, upped the hot word sensitivity. Nothing seems to be fixing the issue. Are there any other ways to try and fix this issue or do I need to replace this unit?

Hi @Junior61 ,
You may need to replace the unit but I would first try another outlet and double check the plug into the device is seated firmly.

Thanks Jill. The unit works, just first respond to hot words. I can play music out of it from other units.

That is so odd. I honestly do not have a good answer for you. You may want to reach out to customer service directly or wait and see if another community member here can help.

Hey Junior61,
Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. Just to add could you try to check "My Activity" on the Google Home to see if your device was able to understand your command or if there's a recording available - please check if you can hear any static.
Also, to eliminate network issues, try setting up your device using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home device).
Keep us posted.
Cheers,
Muddi
