I can't do that here, but you can ask me to play it on one of your devices

When I ask my Google home to play music it just says it can't and I can play on another device. I have rebooted it but still doesn't work. How do I fix this? News podcasts do work it's just music that doesn't work

I require YouTube Music Premium to play music on devices without a screen, such as my google home! And google podcasts are free which is why it can play news but not music!

Okay, I'm not an expert - but, are the devices it says you can stream it to - ones that support video?   I don't know how google decides on what order to choose.  But, if I ask Google to play something, it will reply

"Playing Billy Joel on Spotify"

Or "Playing Neil Diamond on IHeart"

Or something like that.  But every once in a while, it will choose to play something that I asked for on YouTube - and then it wants to play it on a television somewhere else in the house.   "Playing XYZ on Basement TV"

I suspect that whatever news programs that you are asking for are only available on Audio, so they will playon the smart speaker that  you want.

Next time try asking for the artist and the platform you want.

"Hey Google, Play Jim Croce on Spotify"

and see if that works.

I tried that and it does play music when I asked for spotify but I don't have spotify premium, when I asked for it to play on youtube and youtube music it gave the same response as always
