Idle alway showing

Hi, we’re using the camera in the nursery as a baby monitor. The camera is always plugged in. The screen will show the camera feed when you first turn it on but will turn off it to idle very quickly and most of the time overnight it won’t switch back to live feed, even if you press the button. Or it sometimes will say love but have a black screen.

thanks for any advice you could give.

What camera are you using? If by chance is the battery camera, was it configured to be plugged in at the time you installed it (in which case it should show in the Google Home app as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol)?

It’s an indoor, wired camera. Would that have to be configured in a certain way?

No.  If it is wired, it seems quite odd that it would show as "Idle".  Perhaps your Wi-Fi network doesn't have enough capacity,

You could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in this post:

Or often it will say camera feed not available. Is that a Wi-Fi issue too, do you know? Or does something else cause that?

I think the camera feed not available error message is most likely a temporary glitch on Google Nest's servers. We get that once in awhile, but it's very short-lived for us--like a minute or so, and sometimes less.  Sometimes we just immediately re-try and the camera is suddenly available.
