Listen to BBC World Service

For at least 5 years I have been asking my bedroom nest speaker to play the BBC World Service.  It has now stopped doing this, instead I get some random American channel.  I am not sure what platform but the Google home app is on the same iPad it’s always been on.

Hi Nikku,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that your device doesn't play BBC World Service. I know this can be frustrating, but don't worry, I'm here to help!

To better understand your situation, please answer the following questions:

  • Do you use the command "Play BBC <station name>" when asking for BBC?
  • Do you have the latest version of the Google Home app?
  • What model of Nest speaker or display do you have?

I'll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Manuel

Thanks for your response, I have been using the speaker for this purpose for about 6 years, I instruct it as you describe and it has just stopped responding correctly in the last few weeks, it has done this before but has corrected itself in a few days, not this time.

its a lozenge shaped speaker and is about 7 years old.

my Google Home app is updated on the I pad when it needs to be done, it is an utterly confusing app but I will check for Updates as you say.

Alexa speaker moved upstairs and working perfectly.

I'm a UK user, and have the same problem as Nikku. It worked 2 weeks ago for years and now streams KQED on tune in.

Hi Nikku,

Thanks for your reply. I recommend you unlink the Radio service and then link again. Please follow the next steps. To check if it is a link inconvenience.

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap the account.
  3. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to the speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or add another account.
  4. Tap to close the account screen.
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. Under Services, tap Radio.
  7. Choose a radio service, then tap Ok.
    • To link an account, sign in or sign up for the radio service. Follow the app steps.
    • To unlink an account, tap Unlink Account.

Let me know if this helps!

Regards,

Manuel
