Is there a way in either the nest app, the home app, or on the web interfaces to determine the IP address that someone viewing a camera is at?
Our nest max reported that someone was viewing our camera, when both of us were in the room with it
I want to know if that request came from inside the house, or outside the house, in which case I have to reset passwords.
I also wonder if its possible that came from one of the chromcast devices in the house - we have 4 of them on various televisions, and I have used those in the past to also look at the cameras

I'm just another Google Nest customer, but I've never seen anything that would show us who is watching a camera.
When your Nest Hub Max reported that someone was viewing the camera, did either of you have the Google Nest app or Google Home app open on either of your phones and or mobile tablets?
We don't have any Chromecast devices and so am not familiar whether a past viewing of your Max's camera on a Chromecast device could remain active.
I would be surprised if it came from outside of your Google Nest household; I've never heard of a security breach like that for Google Nest cameras.

No. We both work from home, and we were both sitting here working when my wife noticed the alert on the Nest Hub max, Neither of us had the app open on our phones, and I didnt have the webpage for nest or home open. (I did test, viewing through the web shows its viewing on the nest hub max.
I changed some passwords to be safe, but its alarming
My wife unplugged the max for the moment until I changed the passwords at least

And you ruled out that the someone is watching message could have been triggered by one of your four Chromecast devices?
Maybe there's some defect triggering the message. It hasn't happened at our house, but then our Max's camera is not on a lot. But see these recent similar posts:

Only if the chromecast can do it all by itself without a user at it, otherwise Id be ruling that out
Our max camera is on all the time
All I can tell you is it happened at our house

I think Google Nest Support should respond and indicate whether--due to a software bug--the Nest Hub Max can falsely report that someone is watching. If not, Google Nest, then what is going on?
