Multiple speakers no longer play different music from Spotify

Chelle10

I own a salon and we have always had 5 speakers in 5 rooms playing different music through them. Google hub updated last week out of no where and no we no longer can play different music through the speakers. We can only now play 1 song through ALL speakers which is ridiculous. For 3 yrs we have never had a problem until last week.

spotify is our music preference

please tell me there is an easy outcome…

Hi Chelle10,

Thanks for reaching out.

Sorry to hear about what you're experiencing with your Google Nest speakers. Could you tell us if those 5 speakers are using the same Spotify account? You can only listen to a different music if there are multiple Spotify accounts linked to your speakers. Same goes with other music services.

Princess

Hi

one Spotify account…..

but I could play different music through all speakers…. Now I can only play one song through all 5 speakers.
And then to change to another playlist it doesn’t give the option to select any of the speakers… just plays from the nest speaker.
This is extremely disappointing as after a random ‘update’ everything has stopped working

Hi Chelle10,

According to Spotify, if you have a premium account, you can only play one device at a time per account. You can check this link for more info.

Princess

That link didn’t help at all as we have premium family and also premium duo and never had issues…. Until that stupid out of no where update.

Hi Chelle10,

By any chance, do you know if those speakers are grouped? After confirming with Spotify, you can only play one device at a time per account.

Best,

Princess

Nope no groups at all
all single speakers……

Hi Chelle10,

How many Google accounts are linked to your speakers?

Best,
Princess

Just the one account… the google business account

Hi Chelle10,

Thanks for checking. We tried to do the same set up, however, if you're only using the same account on all devices, music will only play on one device. If others attempt to play it on other device, it will automatically stop on the other.

Princess

wow….. this conversation has gone in roundabouts!
yes correct that’s all we can do now too🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
so there is no fix to this obviously….

well this is an absolute waste of money the google nest now as this is not what I need in my salon….. I need different music in different rooms and I was able to do that now I will need to go and purchase something else that will do that from me!
useless piece of rubbish

Hi Chelle10,

Sorry for the late response. There could be accounts linked to your other speakrs that's why it worked before. To know more about how it works with Google Nest speakers, you may also check this link.

Best,

Princess

No there are no other accounts linked to anything.
it’s a business no one has access except me. I’m hoping google will do refunds because it isn’t what I bought it for. I was told that I could play different music through the speakers and I had been doing that until recently.

Hi Chelle10,

Sorry for the confusion. In line with this, we’d like to encourage you to send a feedback about this.

For the meantime, making a speaker group would be a great alternative to this, so you can play the same music on all the speakers set up in your household.

Princess

?????? I don’t want the same music on all speakers?????? That’s ALL I CAN DO! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Hi Chelle10,

We understand, however that's the only workaround that we can do, unless you use a family premium account on your speakers to play different music at the same time.

Princess

Hi Chelle10,

I understand that this is not the answer that you are looking for. However, the only way for you to play different music on your speakers at the same time is to use different Spotify accounts on your devices. We encouraged you to send feedback on your devices about this.

It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.

Cheers,

Muddi

Again that’s totally wrong as we have been doing it that since we got the nest and being a business there’s only one account linked.
please close of this thread as there was no outcome.

Hi Chelle10,

Thanks for responding. How many accounts are linked to your Google Nest speakers? Also, how many are using Premium family account from Spotify?

Best,

Princess

Just one account is linked

the salon has the family duo account

and the a separate home account with the premium

not linked to each other at all…..
