Music streams randomly stops

Hi community,

I've read a dozen posts on this topic, but no solution anywhere.

Our home has multiple Nest audio, Google Mini, Google hub, all connected via Nest Wifi.

When streaming from Spotify or webradio the stream randomly stops.

Sometimes it plays more than a hour, sometimes it plays for a minute.

I've done all the suggested things, reset all, try another device, try another stream source, but nothing works.

It happens with streaming from my Samsung phone, but also from my wifes Xiaomi phone and also from my Home Assistant server.

Streaming music is one of the main reasons we bought so many devices. But when the music keeps stopping randomly... I don't want to switch them all to Sonos or so.

 

Please help!

Welcome to the Google Nest Community.

 

I know how challenging it can be when you're having issues playing music on your Google Home and Nest devices. Let's try to get to the bottom of this.

 

A few questions:

 

  • When did the issue start?
  • How far is your Google Home and Nest speakers from the router?
  • Does it only happen when casting music from your phone to the speaker? How about when manually requesting a song via voice command?

Let's try these steps below:

 

  1. Move your Google Home and Nest devices within 15-20 ft. away from the router to get enough signal from your network.
  2. Reboot your Google Home/Nest device and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals.
  3. If it is still the same, please proceed with resetting your Google speakers and display. Click here to know-how.

Thanks for replying!
The issue started many months ago
I have a Nest router on the ground floor and a Nest Wifi point on the second floor.
All Chromecast devices are within 7m of the router or wifi point.
The issue happens in both situations, cast from phone and voice requested streams.

I have done a factory reset on all devices and it looks like it has worked.
The past hour the music keeps playing, no stops at all.
I'll keep you posted 🙂

Looks like the complete reset worked.

Yesterday the music was nonstop for the whole day.
