My Google Home is taking forever to update. What can I do?

My Google Home speaker has not been plugged in for a very long time. I’m trying to set it up again. It keeps updating. I have deleted my Google Home app, reinstalled. I have factory reset the Google Home speaker. I have unplugged it 10 times. It initially  connects to my phone but when it is updating it takes hours and will not finish. What can I try?

As far as i know, an update should not take more than 10 minutes. If it taking a lot longer than that and if you're not getting any response from the speaker - or if the lights are no longer spinning - you may have to restart the speaker. As you already tried these all, please try again once. Simply unplug it from the power source, wait a minute, then plug it back in. The update should then start again. If this problem persists still now, community specialists will assist you. Thanks!

My new out of the box Google Home Mini is doing exactly the same. I followed the above instructions at least 20 times, no success……Is it a defective product?
