My Google display says " link account, open the Google Home app and link your account" but this isn't a new device in our smart home. We've restarted it, rebooted it, reconnected it and nothing.

Thanks for reaching out. I am sorry to hear that your device is suddenly showing a 'link account' message. I definitely understand your concern and would be more than happy to help. First, I have some questions to get a better understanding of this situation.

  • Which Google display device is this post in regard to? (model name, generation number)
  • Do you see any error messages on the Google Home App?
  • Does your device show up as connected on the Google Home App?
  • Could you please try to do a Factory Data Reset? Are there any improvements?
