Nest Audio Speaker Won't turn on, has no power

Dan777

I recently did a factory reset on both nest Audio speakers in the pair, and now one of the speakers will not turn on. The speaker has no lights and makes no noise when unplugging it and plugging it back in. Flipping the mic switch has no effect. Also, I swapped the power cord from the working speaker and that did not solve the issue with the non-working speaker. Is the speaker toast?

If everything seems to be working well, the best solution is to reboot your Nest Mini. A basic reboot is very easy: Just unplug the power cord from the Nest Mini itself (not the outlet), and leave it unplugged for about two minutes. Then plug it back in, and start the connection process over in your Google Home app.

Nest Audio, not Nest mini. The speaker won't turn on so there is no way to reboot by unplugging it. I think it's dead, and just out of warranty. Going forward it may be best to steer clear of the Nest Audio to avoid the issue.

Hi folks,

@Johnharper1, thanks for the help.

@Dan777, I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Audio is not powering on. Let's try the steps below to figure out what to appropriately do next:

Plug your Nest Audio on a different wall outlet and make sure it's not connected to a surge protector to rule out all other hardware.

Discharge your Nest Audio:

  1. Unplug the power adapter from the outlet and the speaker or display.
  2. Leave it unplugged for 20 seconds.
  3. Plug the power adapter into the speaker or display.
  4. Plug the other end of the power adapter into a wall outlet that works.
  5. Check if any LED lights would appear on the back of the speaker or display.

If you have other Nest Audio, use the power adapter from the one that currently works.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

Hey Dan,

I've had no luck resurrecting the Nest Audio Speaker.  The outlet works, the cord works.  The speaker will not power on.  Thanks for checking in!

Hello Dan777,

Since we have exhausted the troubleshooting steps for your issue, the next best step is to replace it. However, as much as we'd love to replace your device, it's no longer within our Limited Warranty.

We know this is not the best answer that you're looking for, but let us know if you still have other questions otherwise we'll lock the thread after 24 hours.

Kind regards,

Alex

Hi Azarco, I just purchased my Google Nest Audio and I've run into the same issue, I've tried everything on the troubleshooting part but to no avail.  I did not purchase it from a Google authorised seller, however I've only gotten this for less than a week. Would love to hear from you thanks. I can send proof of purchase by the receipt given if needed.

Bummer.  Failed after 20 months.  Is there a way to open it and look for any loose connections especially around where the power plugs in?

Hello, if I can not dismantle the device, how do you suggest it be disposed of?  I do not want to place it into the trash.  Thanks.
