Nest Audio speakers not connecting to Airplay

I know it is only recently that the Nest Audio speakers are compatible with Airplay. I do not see the two Nest Audio speakers I recently set up in the list of speaker options when selecting the output option for playback. I bought these only to use them as wifi speakers so I have not enable the voice assistant (or any other options) and the microphone is off. Both speakers were connected to the network I use for Airplay using the Google Home app on my iPhone. Calls to both Google support and Apple Support could not help me and they didn't seem very knowledgeable about the products. Since the compatibility is so new, I can't find much current info via search either.

I just need the simple answer of what do I need to enable for the Nest Audio Speakers to be discoverable by Airplay?

I'm not sure where you've read Nest speakers are compatible with AirPlay but they are not I'm afraid. AirPlay is an Apple technology, and is specific to Apple products. It can't and doesn't integrate with Google products.

Yes. I guess I misread a few search results that seemed to say they were compatible. Bit the bullet and ordered a Starling device that claims to make them play nice together.
