Nest Audio will play unofficial versions of songs or Video version

I have made sure all the right accounts are linked via the youtube music app and on my nest audio Google home app. I have restricted videos on both the home app and the youtube music app. I will ask the nest audio to play a song and it will play some nonsense video version or an unofficial version. Is there a resolution for this or should i just give my money to spotify?

Hi TNN,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with your Nest Audio, which is playing similar songs instead of the official versions via the YouTube Music app. I understand the inconvenience that this can cause. But don't worry; help is here. I need to ask for some information to provide the most assertive steps.

  • What is the exact command that you're using?
  • What other steps have you tried so far besides confirming that the account is linked correctly?
  • Are you using YouTube Music Premium or the basic version?

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenny

Hello Jenny,

Thanks for reaching out. I use youtube music premium.

Example "Hey google, play she will by lil wayne" or "Hey google, play the song she will by lil wayne"

and instead of playing this version (official)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pa6ckSdda5ave29mD4hCF0dc9nPX7F4F/view?usp=sharing

It will play this version

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l2x7llifIY4GE48w6xOdu8lnb6VE186H/view?usp=sharing

Even when I try to cast the song to my nest audio, it will skip it and play a different song all together as shown below:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XVhcnf8kRPwoTrFBZ0euy76Dul6dPkBv/view?usp=sharing

I have also blocked videos on both nest audio and youtube music:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WOmliUV7UDAgDfucWQ-GfU5xn1_me0mK/view?usp=sharing

Please note, this is not the only song it happens with. Sometimes it will play the music video versions of different songs I request as well.

Hi TNN,

Thanks for your reply and the visual information. In this case, the recommendation would be to confirm that your YouTube Premium account is set by default on the Google Home app. Here is how:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Under "Services," tap Music.
  • To choose your default service, tap the music service you want.  Assistant will use this service when you say,Hey Google, play music. If your music service isn't listed, make sure you've downloaded the app and signed in.

After this, make the test with any song.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenny

Hello Jenny,

Youtube music premium service is already active

Nest audio still does the same thing.
