Nest Hub Speakers Play Wrong Radio Station - KTIS FM

randyh169

Nest is playing the wrong radio station. This occurs on all my Nest devices, which includes 3 Minis, a Hub and a Hub Max. Attempting to listing to a local radio station in the Minneapolis, MN area. The station is 98.5 FM KTIS. I had been able to easily connect to, and play this station (via TuneIn) for a couple years. However recently (couple months ago) any attempt to connect to 98.5 FM KTIS will instead resolve to a station called "Faith Radio" which is a completely different format. I have used any combination of audio phrases (e.g. "Play KTIS Radio", "Play 98.5 FM") and they always resolve to this same, wrong channel. We love KTIS and very much wish to listen via my Google devices. I can listen to many other radio stations, without issue. Appears to be an issue specific to KTIS 98.5 FM.

Looking forward to our feedback.

I see the same results here. I checked what Google thought I said, and what it said it did. It heard KTIS and said it played KTIS, but it actually played Faith Radio. I noticed if you use the TuneIn app Faith Radio comes up in a search for KTIS. I would encourage you to report this problem "hey Google submit feedback". As a workaround you can start the station on the TuneIn app, and cast it to your devices.

Hi @randyh169 what was the format before? I'm showing that KTIS (90.7 also simulcast on HD Channel 98.5) is Christian format if it's the same station that's owned by the University of Northwestern. If so, there's nothing wrong with the result.

What might be the issue is Tune-in got its "wires" crossed, since it rebroadcasts/streams those signals and was probably streaming something else in error. Tune-in figured out the error and fixed it, so now you're getting what you're supposed to get with the callsign and frequency number.

I'd reach out to Tune-in to see what happened, they provide the content but the programming is not something Google manages or fixes. Tune-in can since it's their service.

Hey randyh169,

I am sorry to hear the wrong station is still playing on your device. Do you mind me asking if you managed to reach out to Tune-in yet? Did they provide any more details on what could be the issue? As GothamNY said above, we have no control over what is being played by the station, and it would be best to reach out to them for further support. Please let me know if you have any other questions or troubles from here, as I would be happy to review.

Best regards,

Jake

Hey randyh169,

I am sorry to hear you have had the issue for over a year. That is not ideal at all. As GothamNY said above, since they rebroadcast streams, there is a chance they may be playing something else in error. You are supposed to have a call sign and frequency number, and there is a chance they may have messed up somewhere. Please let me know what they say, or if they are able to fix the issue, as I want to ensure you are good to go.

Best regards,

Jake

Well no questions, other than this is still an issue. Still misbehaves exactly as originally described. Still resolves to the wrong Tune In channel/station. Wish they'd fix it.

Have you reached out to Tune-in at all? What has their support said?

Just checking in and seeing if you were able to reach out to Tune-In support at all? Were they able to resolve the issue for you? Please let us know, as I will be locking the thread due to inactivity.

Thanks so much for the reply, GothamNY!

Sorry, this is the first I've heard the suggestion, to contact TuneIn directly. I've been presuming this was/is a voice recognition issue, with Google. I don't know. Not an expert. I do know that if you go to TuneIn and search "KTIS" you'll get the intended station. If you ask your Google device to play "KTIS", you'll get the wrong station, something called "Faith Radio". It's been consistently wrong, for over a year now.
