Hello,
Im having a bit of a frustrating time with 2 Nest mini 2nd Gen smart speakers. These have been working fine since I set them up in December, however, randomly, both speakers stopped working saying that they could not access the internet.
I have factory reset both and tried to reconnect. The set up seems to work fine until it gets to the "connecting to WiFi" screen, however they simply will not connect to my wifi (I have verified the wifi password is correct!). This is especially anoying as I have no issues with my Nest mini 1st gen speaker and all my other smart home devices are still working fine. This is confusing me even further, as I am using the same internet set up as before when they were working fine, which is a google wifi/mesh system.
I am usually pretty good with these things, but at a loss as to why they simply wont work. Does anyone know of any fixes for this problem or what could be causing the issue?
I have trided completley remving google home and re-installing the app, factory reset of the home devices, power down and reboot of my home wifi but these actions have not rectified the issue.

Okay - I think I managed to work out how to fix the problem of connection after digging around in the home app. It appeard that the settings for my Family Wifi, where schedules were set for the 2 Nest Mini devices were still enabled, even though I had removed the devices from my home. Perhaps Google should consider updating the app to make sure legacy settings for removed devices are prompted for removal on removal of a device from the home app?
Anyway, this solves the issue of reconnecting - although I am still at a loss as to why these devices suddenyl dissconnected, I can only assume it was a software update that was pushed to both devices at the same time that perhaps caused issues when aligning the settings for the Family Wifi schedules.
I'm happy (if not a little frustrated at the time its taken) to have these working again.

Hi bluey19,
Thanks for posting and apologies for the inconvenience. Aside from the Nest Mini's, what other Nest speakers or displays do you have? For confirmation, are your Nest speakers working when near your router? If so, It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops. Restarting your phone might also help.
Looking forward to your responses.
Best,
Dan

Thanks for the reply, I have one google nest screen in family room and one on office next to router the mini when I connected it was a meter away from google nest and it has connected. It does connect to mobile but not to wifi through mobile so I presume somehow it connected through google nest because if give mini normal voice nest answers as well . They did work for couple years the 2 minis in bedrooms further away. Also I have rebooted the router the minis done hard reset nothing works its only I tried with mobile in kitchen and realized if I talked softly into the mini so nest couldnt hear it was connected to the net hope that helps my problem

Hey there,
I understand that this might be a location or distance concern between your Nest Mini and your router. Since you managed to have it work while near your router, it would be best to monitor things first but make sure your Nest Mini is close to your router. About your Nest Hub, the one in the family room, was it disconnected?
Also, do you have another phone that we can use to connect your Nest speakers via hotspot? We need to isolate this further but you need two phones for this to work. It would be of big help if you have one. Use the other phone and enable its hotspot, then set up your Nest speakers using the original phone where the Google Home app is installed. Before doing so, factory reset your Nest speakers first to revert it back to its default and original settings.
Keep us posted.
Regards,
Dan
