Nest Mini will not connect to Wi-Fi at all

I received a Nest Mini (second gen if it matters) and never set it up before. I finally took it out of the box aware that my location in the Philippines may cause problems, but was hopeful when reading other outside-the-Google-range-of-acceptable-locations posts. I have tried resetting the router, the nest device, logging into the router to check the channel, the wps, and the correct GHz frequency and nothing works. When all this fails, I have seen people advise others to just use the nest as a Bluetooth speaker which is really all I want, but I can’t even get that to work. I’m at a loss— any help, ideas, good cocktail recipes to free me from the frustration? Or is this just a no way, no how situation?

Hey there,

MplsCustomer, thanks for the help!

Shoebaly, Google Nest Mini isn't officially launched in the Philippines so it may or may not work properly. Also, Nest devices are Wi-Fi dependent so it needs to be connected to the network before you can use its features. Let's check what we can do, are you getting any message when connecting it to your network? Check your router settings (AP isolation must be disabled and UPnP must be enabled). Also, try setting it up using mobile hotspot to isolate if this is network related problem.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Alex

@Shoebaly

I don't know if there is a creative work-around, but Google does NOT list the Philippines as a supported country for the Google Nest Mini:

Hello, before I am prompted to connect the Nest to a network, I get a warning that due to where it was manufactured, in may not be compatible. When I try to connect to my Wifi, it doesn’t pop up with any alerts, just that it can’t connect. AP isolation is correct set but I honestly cannot find where I can alter the UPnP settings on my router. I wonder if the router is too old? (I’m not the most tech savvy— I’ve been googling everything and the learning curve has been a bit steep! 😅)

Hi Shoebaly,

We appreciate all the steps you've tried. Can you try to set your set up device to English US? Also, you can try set it up using a mobile hotspot so we can check and isolate if this is a network issue.

Let us know how it goes.
