Nest Screen Random Conversations

My device is constantly playing unsolicited advice and staements like;

"It's mid day, time for lunch but don't forget to wash your hands" or

It's 3 o'clock a cup of tea would be nice, but don't forget to wash your hands"

There is no evidence of these activities in the Activity Log. Where are they coming from and, more importantly, how do I stop them?

Hey ianlowe,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you — let's see what's going on.

A few questions: when did it start happening? Can you check if there's a reminder set on your Google Nest Hub? If not, check if there's a family bell announcement set. Here's how:

  1. On a mobile device, open the Google Home app .
  2. On the upper right corner of the screen, tap the account icon > Assistant settings > Family Bell.
  3. On the upper right corner of a bell announcement, tap to turn it on or off.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Alex

I still have the problem. I checked the suggestion but have no active alerts or family bells. I did reply to say this.

I continue to get 3 or 4 notifications each day. For example, at 12 o'clock I get " It's 12 o'clock, time for lunch but don't forget to wash your hands".

Others are similarly time based but I don't know where they are generated. It's very odd that Google can't tell me where they come from

Hi ianlowe,

Thanks for the update. We haven't received any reports similar to this. To confirm, how many accounts are linked to your Nest Hub? Could you try resetting your Nest Hub to see if it helps? If the issue persists, please provide the cast firmware and software version of your display.

Best,
Alex

There are no other accounts linked to this device. Today we had a new one; “It’s 2 oclock lets go for a walk”

I will try and reset/reboot and see what happens

I was having this too, but I think I figured it out...It's actually a routine.  To fix try the following:

  1. On a mobile device, open the Google Home app .
  2. On the upper right corner of the screen, tap the account icon > Assistant settings > Routines
  3. Under "Your Routines" look for one that says "Workday" and deactivate it.

It is the only routine that is set up to run every weekday.  I didn't set it up though so it must have been a "feature" Google thought we could use.  😉

Hey ianlowe,

Chiming in, have you tried the steps provided by @SeanThatcher? I agree that this could be a routine triggering your device to the the action.

Cheers,

Muddi
