Nest speakers won't play specific songs from YouTube music

I am a premium Youtube music subscriber with two nests minis on my Google home. Both speakers have recently Google assistant say specific songs cannot be found despite them being available on the site. However if I ask for a non specific song by eg Ed Sheerhan it will play a random song.

It appears that it is only playing songs from my YouTube song library and not the whole of YouTube. Not sure which settings to change?

Same issue here, both my nest mini and Google Home speaker can't find anything specific if I ask for it (though both of them will respond normally to my sister who is in my family group).

My Nest Hub 2 on the other hand, works normally.

They are all on the same network, part of the same home and worked perfectly up until this week. They all respond normally to other questions and even recognise who I am.

Something I have noticed is that I get the same response from my phone if it's on my home network but works normally on mobile, strange.

Same problem here.  Previously specific songs on YouTube Music would play on Home speakers when I told Google to play them.  Now Google offers a YouTube channel featuring the artist - or a random album.  I used to get all this for free from Google/YouTube Music.  Now I pay for regular YouTube sub - and I'm still not getting what I used to get.  It appears you now want me to pay for YouTube Premium to get what I use to get for free.  Is that right?   Can I now only get this functionality if I subscribe to YouTube Premium?

Hey folks,

If you have a premium account, you'll hear specific songs/albums/artists while a free one will only give you music inspired by the song/album/artist. You can check this guide for more information.

Thanks,

Alex

I wrote a long explanation about how your YouTube Music is not working for me in connection with my google Home speakers.   And about how I cancelled YouTube Music Premium (because it won't work) and have now moved to Apple Music, which works just fine.  BUT SOMEONE HAS DELETED MY POST.   I'M NOT IMPRESSED.

Hey, I clearly stated what the problem is.  Nobody has told me 1. that the problem shouldn't be happening (ie: YouTube Music should work just fine without Premium OR 2. that Google has changed it's policy and now you have to have Premium to play specific songs.   It seems nobody cares.  And now you close down the string.   HickeyAF

I got an email from one of your "senior Home specialists."  He/she asked a lot of questions - but didn't promise to help.  You all have a customer service system where the Home/Nest team doesn't know anything about YouTube Music.  And YouTube Music team doesn't know anything about Home/Nest.  And neither team understands how YouTube Music should work with Home/Nest!  Apple Music is working - and I'm not sure you teams are interested in helping me.   Weird.  It used to work and now I have to go to Apple.

Hi RogerAF,

Apologies for the inconvenience. I've seen that the last email was sent yesterday and needed some info. Let's continue our conversation via email as we would also need some account info that can't be disclosed in a public post. Rest assured that I'll keep an eye to that email so we can resolve this.

Best,

Princess
