Next Audio 'double tap'

Hi

Have a Nest Audio device that is not functioning as expected.  On restart after unplugging it, welcome tones play and lights go out.  Every 20 seconds get a 'double tap' sound (like someone playing wooden blocks) and the four white lights flash twice.  Volume keeps returning to 100%.  Resetting the device helps for awhile but issue recurs.  Have moved the device to a different wall plug and closer to my WIFI router without any change in behaviour.  Is it dead or is there something else to try?

Thanks!

Hi DCNorthWest,

That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s further look into it. Are you using a dual-band router? If yes, try to connect your Google Nest Audio to the other Wi-Fi band and monitor. If the issue persists, kindly provide the Cast firmware version.

Alex

Hi Alex_S,

Can you tell me where to change the band being used?  Is that in the Home app?  The Cast firmware version is 2.57.375114

Hi there,

Apologies for the late response. To change the Wi-Fi connection, open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap your Google Nest Audio device > Settings > Device information > Wi-Fi > Forget Wi-Fi. Go back to the home view of the Google Home app and then do the setup steps to go to the “Connect to Wi-Fi” page. Make sure that your phone is already connected to the other band before doing the setup.

Best,
Alex

Hi,

Sorry about the delay.

Unable to use a different WI-Fi band, but the Cast version is as above.  System firmware is 375114

Thanks!

Hi @DCNorthWest,

Thanks for your post. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

Just wanted to check in and see if you still need assistance with sound detection on your Nest Audio.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Thanks, Jenniffer.

Found another thread (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/My-Nest-Audio-is-pressing-the-touch-but...) that seemed to be similar to my issue.  Popped off the cover, blew it out with some compressed air and reassembled, and it seems to be working at the moment.  Hope that lasts!

Thanks again,
Doug
