I know about the Sonos / Google issues, but I have a problem that doesn't seem to fit the description of the speaker group volume issues. About 1.5 weeks ago, I became unable to cast to a speaker group from my phone. When I used to tap on the group, I would get a "Cast my Audio" option. Now when I tap the speaker group, it goes right into the settings menu, with no option to cast. I listen to audiobooks on Libby throughout my house (ie. I don't use a music service / app). I understand I won't be able to have a "master group volume" setting, which is unfortunate but not a show-stopper. But, not being able to cast my phone audio to a speaker group would be. I've searched and only found one or two mentions of this issue, with no acceptable solution. I've tried rebooting wi-fi and individual speakers. I suppose next step is to factory reset them all, but interested if others have this issue or any fixes?

Don"t reset all your devices, as it will not fix your issue, and just waste your time. There are two things going on here. First is the Sonos issue, and that won't let you start the cast from the group in the Home app. Second is the fact that Libby only supports bluetooth playback and not casting from the Libby app. You should (as I have) send a feedback request to Libby developers to add casting ability. Now a possible work around is to start the audio playback and cast it to a single speaker. Once playback has started on that speaker ask it to transfer to your group.

Yes, the problem is not being able to start a cast to a group in the Home app. I used to just start the audio running on my phone, then cast phone audio to "xyz group" - which worked perfectly. Thanks for the suggestion on using voice to transfer to the group...I'll check to see if that works. I really hope they find a way to resolve some of this soon. As I mentioned, it's annoying but manageable not to change the entire group volume, but not being able to simply cast whatever is playing on my phone to a speaker group is a major issue for me.

Yes, I feel your fustration, but part of this particular problem is on Libby for not supporting casting. If they did, you would be able to cast straight from the Libby app to the group.

How do I actually transfer audio playback from a speaker to a group? This is super frustrating...

No. The problem is not being able to cast the phone audio to a speaker group, whatever app you choose is irrelevant. This used to work perfectly and was the reason I liked home and spent fair amount of money on it.

thtats it, it was working perfectly.
the only working ist form Browser to the speakers. But this now has so much jitter that its not possible to enjoy anymore.
even bought repeater to defend it, nothing changed.
the product ist not usable anymore and thats a pitty.

I've tried everything to fix this issue.. It apparently, at least on Android have to do with Ann update.
So a descent work around is:
1. Cast from the app to the speaker group with whatever app that you like that provides that option, I use or tube Deezer.
2. To control group volume open the volume selection and there is a cast slider.
Works ok I guess to play to a speaker group.

"Hey Google move audio to (name) group"

Thanks, but this did not work. Has this workaround worked for anyone? This is frustrating, since my main use-case was to stream mobile sound to my speaker groups (many different models, big house). Btw, Spotify works just fine casting to speaker groups, but i have fount no way to do that in the Google Home app just for the mobile sound. Hopefully Google will provide a solution in some of the future updates.

Yeah, using voice to transfer to a group didn't work for me either. Although, to be fair, my speakers haven't been listening to me as well lately either. Sigh.

Unfortunately, attempting to move audio from one speaker to another doesn't work when using mirroring from your phone or device. Speakers and speaker groups have become dissociated. The functionality has been disabled.

I have the same issue. I used this to listen to Audible books (and they will probably never support casting since it's an Amazon service now). I noticed that audio casting (aka mirroring) still works if you do it via a web browser on a PC. I wonder if this will end too..

This is interesting, since I have not been able to mirror-cast from the PC myself. My speaker groups are just not there anymore, but I have to admit that the PC casting was always unstable for me, so I was always using the mobile. Are you using Chrome to do that? I might give it another try later today.

I used Edge to do it. I'll check if Chrome can do it when I get back home.

Update: It's been working sometimes from Chrome or Edge, but it is still unreliable. Ie., the proper groups do not appear 90ish% of the time. This is frustrating...

update: I can do this reliably from Edge every time. It's obviously not anywhere near as practical as streaming Audible from my phone but at least it is possible...
