Not playing up YouTube music

Mary19
Community Member

Please help. I set up my new nest mini today having created a Google home account. Everything is linked, as far as I can tell, and I can cast playlists to my nest mini but, when I ask the speaker to play a specific playlist it says it searched but can't find it. I don't know if I missed something during set up? I feel like I've been through everything.

Hi @Mary19,

Thank you for your timely post and the comprehensive information you've provided. I've reviewed the input and understand that you're encountering some issues when you play a specific playlist on your Google Nest Mini. You see a message stating that it can't be found. I'm here to help you troubleshoot and find a solution together.

To assist you further, please attempt the following questions:

  • Were there any recent changes to your environment, such as a change in Wi-Fi network or relocation of the device?
  • When did this behavior first begin?
  • Have you experienced any power outages in your area?
  • Have you tried connecting the Google Nest Mini to a different power source?
  • May I know the model of your smartphone?
  • Are both your Google Home app and smartphone operating system up-to-date?
  • Did you notice another issue when you try to use the voice commands or just when you request a playlist?
  • Are you using premium or not?
  • Do you use the same email address in your Google Home app as you do on YouTube?
  • What was the voice command you used to play the desired audio content?

In the meantime, you can follow these articles:

Please keep me posted.

Warm regards,

Jeremy.

Thank you for your message. At the time of posting the issue, the speaker device was brand new and had only just been set up. I use YouTube premium, Google home had only been installed for the purpose of using the speaker and no other issues had presented themselves. I can cast to the device from YouTube music but when I ask the device to play a particular playlist, I am informed that it cannot be found right now. I have checked all the settings and have found no reason why the speaker might not be able to connect with YouTube music.

Further help is required please.

Thank you

Mary

Hi @Mary19,

Thank you for your timely post and the information you've provided. In this case, you can try the following troubleshooting:

  • Try with this command: Hey Google, play my sleep playlist on YouTube. If this won't work, you can check more voice commands in this article: Listen to media.
  • Check if the restricted mode settings are turned on.
  • Tap favorites or devices.
  • Tap and hold your device tile, then tap settings.
  • Tap notification & digital wellbeing, then YouTube settings.
  • Under Use Restricted Mode, turn off Restricted for me and Restricted when someone is not recognized.
  • Unlink it and relink YouTube.
  • Tap your account and make sure that the Google Account listed is the one linked to your device.
  • Tap setting
  • Under services, tap Music, you can link and unlink other available services. Tap a service to link or unlink it.
  • Rename your playlist
  • Perform a factory reset, you check out this article: Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays.
