Only one Nest recognized a plug

AuntieS

I have a few Hubs and a few minis.  Just added a new Kasa smart plug.  One Display recognizes and turns on the device when told.  The other displays and the minis say that the device has not been set up yet.  I have searched for this issue and cannot seem to find any resolutions.  Please help.

Hey  AuntieS,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

My apologies for the late response. I know how challenging it is when some of your Google Home/Nest speakers and displays are having issues controlling your Kasa smart plug. Let's try to get to the bottom of this.

A few questions:

  • When did the issue start?
  • Could you list down all the speakers and displays you have?
  • What is the response of your speakers and displays when you sync all your devices?
  • Do you have the same issue when using the Google Assistant app on your phone?
  • How far are the speakers and displays from your router and smart plug?

Please reboot your devices, router, and Kasa smart plug by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals. Check if other devices will still have the same issue recognizing your plug.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi,

I have three nest displays and tow minis.  All was working fine.  I added one Kasa Smart Plug to the two I already have and the new plug only responds to one Nest display.  I asked the one that is recognizing it to sync devices and it said all was fine except one item was off line.  Note - that was a Wemo plug which I knew about.  The funny thing is the one display that recognizes it is the furthest away one.  The rest are between 3 and 30 feet away from the router, and 10 - 30 feet from the plug.

We did reboot everything, disconnect the plug, update apps and still the same issue.

Hey AuntieS,

Thanks for trying. Please proceed with resetting your Google Nest Hub by pressing and holding both volume buttons together, at the back of the Nest Hub, for about 10 seconds. You'll hear your Google Assistant confirm that it's resetting the Nest Hub. Once done, check if your device will still have the same behavior.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hello everyone - unfortunately, all the above has not resolved the issue.  After much thinking, the one nest that is works on was set up with another phone as was the most recent plug.  Not that is should matter as the other Kasa plugs worked, but logged into Kasa on the other phone and all seems to be well.  Have another issue, but that is a different post.

Thanks for updating us. Can you try to say "Ok Google, sync my devices". Let us know if it works.

Hey AuntieS,

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to know that your concern about your Kasa plugs is now resolved. Could you tell us more about the other issue?

My other issue is one Nest gives me the correct weather for my location.  The other Nest and the mini's give me the weather for a town several miles away.  We have not moved, we have not updated our router, we have not changed any settings on ours phones.  Devices all have correct address attached.

Hi AuntieS,

It looks like you have an active thread for the weather issue on this link. I'll lock this thread now, and let's continue on the new thread so we can focus on the other issue.

Cheers,
