Only one speaker playing in speaker group using T-Mobile Home Internet NOK 5G21

Hi!

I'm experiencing the same problem previously posted by Romax1, where since switching to new router only one speaker from a group plays (always the same speaker).

I switched my Google devices (mostly Home Mini gen1) to the new WiFi network and password for the NOK 5G21, and they played fine for about a week. Suddenly now only one speaker will play at a time.

To test what's happening, I changed the name and password on my old Motorola cable router, which is still active, to match the new 5G router. I can switch devices back and forth between networks by turning routers on and off. Groups and speakers work perfectly on the Motorola, but the one-speaker-only problem recurs using the 5G router--which btw has better speed and WiFi signal than the Motorola. Sigh.

(question first posted by Romax1 under "Only one speaker plays when I ask to play music on home group. Have tried deleting and re-grouping.")

Apparently this is a problem with the router in the T Mobile Nokia gateway, at least with current firmware, and how it handles Nest devices. T-Mobile attempted to apply a fix remotely, but the problem returned within a few minutes. The same issue seems to be responsible for inability to connect stereo speaker pairs in Home. The Gateway can't seem to corral the devices together in the way Home requires.

The solution that's working for me (to allow both stereo pairing and group playback) is to use a separate router for WiFi, after disabling all SSID channels on the NOK 5G21 through the gateway's web portal.

It would be great if T Mobile and Google could work out the kinks here so an external router wasn't necessary!
