Photo frame consistently ignores some pictures in album

Hi there,

I was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge how the Photo Frame feature selects photos to display from an album?

Our Nest Displays only displays about 60% of the photos that we have in our Home Hub album.

I was just wondering if there was anyway to ensure that all photos are included in those to be displayed?

Thanks

Hi silentbazz,

Thanks for posting. I understand that you want to make sure about the photos that your device can display by using the photo frame. Don't worry; I can help. I just need to ask for some information to provide the best solution:

  • Do you have a Google Photos account? If yes, did you already link the account with your Google Nest Hub?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Jenny

Hiya,

Yes I have a Google account and the Album I use with my Nest Hub Max was created in Google Photos whilst I was signed in. My Google account is used also in the Google Home app through which I set up and configure the photo frame functionality for the Nest Hub Max.

The issue is that I am fairly confident that approximately 25% of the photos in the shared Google Photos have never been included in the photos shown in the Photo frame on the Nest Hub Max, they are just completely ignored. The majority are shown fine, but it irks me that some photos are just ignored?

Hi silentbazz,

Thanks for your reply and the information provided. In this case, the recommendation would be to check the permissions that you have enabled for the photo frame. Here is how:

Ask your customer to do the following steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Select the device from Home View.
  3. Select the Nest display.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings Photo Frame.
  5. Choose the preferred photo source:
    • Google Photos
    • Art gallery
    • Full-screen clock

Thereafter, you can check the settings on your Google Photos app:

  1. Tap Photos settings, Apps & devices, and Photo Frames.
  2. Tap the Nest display where the album should appear.
  3. Verify that the selected albums match those set in the Home app.

Please let me know how that goes.

Best regards,

Jenny

Hi Jenny,

Yeah I have already verified this.

I have also have the same issue happens on both our nest hub devices.

I have tried unselecting and re-electing the album too, as I wondered if that would help. It didn't. I have added photos to the album since I first noticed this issue and some (but not all) of them display. Its quite confusing

We’ll have someone reach out to you via email from there.
