Play music for X amount of time

Hi,

I used to be able to say "Play music for 1 hour" and the display would turn off in one hour. It no longer does so for the past few days. I tried commands in French and English just in case and both don't stop after an hour.

Yes, this started happening to me as well recently.  So annoying.  Now I have to wait until the music starts, then give a second command to stop in X minutes.

Hi everyone,

I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should. Let’s further look into it. Who’s your music provider? Do you have other Google Home devices aside from the Google Nest Hub 2nd gen? If yes, have you checked if it has the same behavior? Try doing the steps below:

  • Unplug the power cord from Google Nest Hub 2nd gen for a minute > Plug back in.
  • Give it a command to play music until a specific time. If the issue persists;
  • Open the Google Home app > Devices > Choose your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen > Settings > Remove device > Remove.
  • Go back to Devices tab > Scroll down to Other cast/Local devices > Tap on Google Nest Hub 2nd gen > Add to a room. Follow the prompts in adding it back to a room.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex

I tried to unplug and replug didn't solve the problem. I tried with my Lenovo Smart Display and that one the play for X time works. I'll try and reset one of the hubs later today.

Hello Ellimi,

Thanks for the information. To confirm, have you experienced the same issue with other music services, such as Spotify or Pandora? Also, have you tried using the Google Assistant app on your phone? Let's proceed by creating a routine. Within the routine, add an action where you can type "Play music for 1 hour." This will allow us to determine if your device exhibits the same behavior.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi
