Playing BBC Radio on Home Hub

I have always been able to play BBC radio stations on my Home Hub by asking 'play radio 4', but today it just responds 'i can't do that on here'. What has changed?

Hey everyone,

I have some great news to share! This issue on BBC Radio should now be resolved. You can now go back to listening to your favorite BBC station on your speakers/display as normal. If for some reason you’re still experiencing problems, please try rebooting your devices to refresh the settings.

Cheers,

Muddi

And what did it say?

It still doesn't work consistently on my speakers. If I ask it to play a BBC Station on a speaker group it sometimes works but usually plays on all the speakers in the group but not the one I initiate it on (which is in the group) but it thinks it is playing on my hub as shows it is but no sound (great for radio)! If I ask for BBC Radio 4 on one speaker it will quite often play BBC radio Jersey via Tune In and not BBC Sounds. It just doesn’t work and I have been testing Alexa and they seem to work much better so I am giving up on Google (reluctantly) and swapping over to Alexa, just got to replace the 8 Google devices. Alexa even works better with my Nest thermostat which is a Google product!

Just a word of caution. I gave up on Alexa as they wouldn’t play BBC radio on speaker groups. If I asked it to play anything else the speakers didn’t sync.
That’s how I ended up on Google.
Seems to me that the who smart speaker thing isn’t fit for purpose and is really still at the Beta stage.

Arrrrg! I think you are right they are all not fit for purpose yet. My Google speakers used to work fine until the legal dispute with Sonos (I have several Sonos speakers). Alexa works flawlessly with Sonos so far on my limited tesing.
