Repost: Google Nest will start playing again 10-20 minutes after I tell it to stop.

Hi - @Princesss

Sorry, I never responded to my previous question, it got lost in my massive email backlog.

So, the second issue with music stopping every few seconds has stopped, but the first issue persists:

Issue: when I tell my Nest to stop playing music, it does, but randomly continues again a few minutes later.

Today I asked it to play music, then I told it to pause (because that has been my go-to fix for the issue... when I say pause instead of stop the music hasn't been resuming after a few minutes. However, it did this morning. I told it to pause, and it stopped playing. No music played for at least 10 minutes, but then I left and when I got back home 40 minutes later, the music was back on again. I checked my Google activity to see that it had actually registered me saying pause and it did.

So, to follow/answer your steps from the previous thread:

  • Try to play music from a different provider. The problem only exists with Apple Music, but it's hard to gauge because it doesn't happen all the time, only sometimes.
  • Try to play news-- check if it will also exhibit the same thing. I played the news and didn't have a problem, but again it's hard to gauge because it doesn't always happen.
  • Try to play radio/podcast and compare if you get the same results as what you are getting when playing music. Monitor the time range if it stops or not. Same answer as above. The time range seems to be between 8 and 22 minutes after I tell it to stop that it starts again.

Hi Madm4x,

Thanks for posting.

I appreciate all the details you've shared. Can you confirm if you have tried performing a complete reset t your Google Nest speakers? If not, let's try that to see if that would make any changes on its behavior.

Best,

Princess

Hi! Yes, I've done a complete reset.

It only happens on the one speaker (I have 4 Nests and 1 Home). It happened again today after not doing it for almost a week.
