Ring Door Bell Sound

Hello, we had an electrician install our wireless nest door bell instead of the old ring doorbell. The chime sound plays externally outside but shouldn't it be playing inside or do you need to purchase speakers? Looking for help on getting the sound through our house not just on our phones

Didn't your electrician wire your battery doorbell to your existing doorbell wires, which would normally connect to an indoor doorbell chime?  If he did not, and your battery doorbell is running in battery mode, then you could purchase a Nest Hub or a Nest Mini and turn on "Visitor announcements" for your doorbell in the Google Home app.

He wired it in to the existing ring doorbell bell that was there but no indoor sound still. Thanks for your help

@Nelsons4life

Do you have the “Indoor chime” option enabled for your doorbell in the Google Home app?

We sure do! But stillness sound in the house

I have no other suggestions. You could try contacting Support:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

Got it thanks if we need speakers for the sound what nest speakers do you recommend that would help with sound in the house?

Hi folks,

@Nelsons4life, thanks for reaching out to the Community. I understand that you are interested in using your Nest Doorbell (battery) with a Google Nest Speaker as a chime. I’d be happy to help you. Let's review.

Combining a Nest Doorbell with a Nest Speaker is a fantastic way to enhance your home's security and convenience. Please check the following link to take a look at the Smart speakers that you can get.

Here's a step-by-step guide to get you started:

  1. Nest Doorbell: Ensure it's installed and connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  2. Nest Speaker: Ensure it's set up and connected to the same Wi-Fi network. All the available-for-purchase Speakers and Displays are compatible to use the visitor announcement feature.
  3. Google Home App: This app is essential for managing your Google Nest devices.

Setup Steps:

  1. Add Devices to Google Home App: Make sure both your Nest Doorbell and Nest Speaker are added to the same Google Home app account.
  2. Enable Visitor Announcements:
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Tap on your Nest Doorbell.
    • Go to Settings > Visitor announcements.
    • Toggle the switch to On.
  3. Select Speakers: You can choose which Nest speakers or displays will announce visitor arrivals.
    • Tap Select speakers and displays to choose specific devices.

Thanks for your help @MplsCustomer, I really appreciate your post in the community.
