Sign in / link YouTube account to nest hub 2nd gen

Hi, I can't figure out how to log into YouTube on the hub. rn I can only cast from my phone which is a bit pointless. In addition, somehow my YouTube on the hub got set as kids so all suggested content is for kids...

Is it even possible to link a YouTube account that's not premium or TV? I'm in the UK

I just want to access my accounts saved content without using my phone. Thanks!

Hi Cloudz,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you ― let’s check this out.

Follow the steps below to set your YouTube account as the default:

  1. Make sure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. At the top right, tap the account (the icon with the customer’s initial or profile picture).
  4. Verify the Google Account on screen is the one linked to the speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap the down arrow icon  and then choose another account or Add another account .
  5. Go back to the home screen.
  6. Tap Add and then Music.
  7. To choose a default service, select the preferred music service available. The Assistant uses this choice when the customer uses the voice command “Hey Google, play music.”
  8. Link function:
    • For YouTube, the account is automatically linked when you set up the speaker or display.
    • For Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and others, you need to link your account.
      • To connect the account, tap a music service and then Link Account and then sign in or sign up for the service and then follow the in-app steps.
      • To unlink an account, tap Unlink and then Unlink account.

For the content restrictions, click this link Restrict content on your Google Nest speakers and displays to further the troubleshooting.

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Cloudz,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Best,

Dan
