Hello,
I have a Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen and cannot activate the Sleep Sensing option. I have motion sense turned on, when I go to Sleep Sensing, it says I need to set it up.
On my phone (Android), I open the Home app and have turned sleep sensing on but nothing happens, it still says inactive on the Nest Hub. Any other settings that I change on the Google Home app immediately change on the Nest Hub so I know it is connected and receiving commands. I have deactivated and reactivated sleep sensing multiple times on the Google Home app, but nothing changes on the Nest Hub. I have Google Fit installed on the phone as well.

I don't really know.
I reinstalled the device a few times the night before without success.
The next day I restarted it at noon to test. In the afternoon I deactivated and activated the sensor in the home app, and suddenly it worked.
The support had not really much to do with it, but is good and helps.

Same issue

I have exactly the same. When I first installed the hub, sleep sensing was working. For unspecified reasons I removed every nest/google device from the app. All my other issues are now fixed, but for the love of God I can NOT get Sleep Sensing active again. It's enabled in the app, but stays inactive on the hub. I also tried everything. Removing it multiple times, back to factory settings a few times. Removing other devices.... In the Assistant settings under wellness/sleep, there's only one device and it's the hub and it disappears from there when the hub is removed.
I like the nest/google products when they work, but omfg it can be a pain to solve an issue!

Doesn't seem like Google know an answer - do they care?

I called the (German) Google nest support. They can help.

What was the solution though?

You're right. After reading your message I tried again with a "can't hurt" attitude. Sleep sensing is now active *shrug*. I didn't even do any restart. Just disabled it in the Home app and re-enabled it. Done.

Perfect! 😄

Thanks for that. I turned sleep sensing off in the Home App, did it all again and it worked this time. Thank you for your advice.

I guess I just have to keep trying... I have disabled and re enabled it in the home app about 10 times... Still no luck... So what's a few more times for good measure....

They must have changed something.... After all of you said it now works.... Well so does mine. Numerous attempts before and nothing.. Now today I disabled and re enabled and it is working... Odd.

Seems like something changed.

I've one Nest at home (installed sleepsensing without any problem) and have bought a second Nest to install in our weekend house. For this new Nest the 'Sleep sensing function NOT showing in the system settings' (motion sensing is on and registration is on in 'assistant' . On the nest I do have a message 'sleeping sense is inactief' and when I click on the message that is send to my phone I get the message 'I cannot update your preferences (kan uw installingen niet opslaan).'
Software : 47.9.4.447810048
Somebody has a solution?

Hi Quido,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having some concern with the Sleep Sensing feature on your Nest Hub 2nd Gen. It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot by unplugging the power cord of your router followed by your Nest Hub 2nd Gen. For additional troubleshooting, follow the steps below to deactivate sleep sensing and reactivate it:
Keep us posted.
Best,
Dan

Dear Dan, I've solved it in another way; I've removed the 2nd Nest Hub and installed it on my wife's account. Suddenly the option of sleep sensing appeared on the home app of my wife's account. My conclusion is that you cannot install two Nest Hubs on the same account!? Is this correct?
