I am trying to figure out how to make it so others on my shared WiFi can't access my Google Home Mini. Anyone have any help?

Hello Terry R 2600,

Thank you for your message. I can understand your concern, hearing a message numerous times is definitely concerning. I would be more than happy to help find a solution. I see that you have two questions, so I will answer both!

  1. Could you check the the toggle button for the mic on the back of the device is not orange? If you can see orange, that means the mic is off. Toggle it back and forth, you should be able to hear 'The mics back on" when the tab is white.
    1. If this does not work, could you please try to Factory Data Reset your device? Is there any improvement?
      • A factory reset will reset your Google Nest or Home speaker or display to its default factory settings.
Note: This action will clear your data from the device and can't be undone.
  2. The Google Nest Mini and Google Home/Nest devices are not made for public/shared WiFi. If you are unable to have a secure connection, I would recommend using a mobile hot spot.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I look forward to your response!
