Speaker groups including Chromecast with Google TV cannot cast YouTube Music

In my home, I have 3 Google Home Mini speakers, one 1st gen Google Home speaker, one Google Home Hub, one regular Chromecast, and one Chromecast with Google TV. When I cast YouTube Music (I am a premium subscriber) to any of these devices individually, it works fine. When I add any of these devices to a speaker group, it works fine EXCEPT when I include the Chromecast with Google TV. After adding this device to the speaker group and attempting to cast, the YouTube Music logo appears on the TV but never loads or plays music on any devices and eventually times out. Once I remove the Chromecast with Google TV from the speaker group, everything magically works again. All software is fully up to date.

I checked and found a whole thread from a couple months ago with numerous other people experiencing the same issue. https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Cannot-cast-youtube-youtube-music-to-sp...

Hi Hubaca,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

I know how it feels when you're having issues casting on an audio group. To confirm, are you able to play YouTube Music on your Chromecast with Google TV? If yes, are you able to cast it manually from your phone to your Google TV? What is the firmware version of your devices?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

My Chromecast with Google TV is running kernel version 4.9.269 and Android TV OS build STTE.220621.019.A2.9082754 and cast firmware 1.61.329909

My regular Chromecast is running system firmware 275994 and cast firmware 1.56.275994

All my Google/Nest Home speakers are running system firmware - 324896 and cast firmware - 1.56.324896

My Google Home Hub is running system firmware - 8.20220713.2.1194059 and cast firmware 1.63.324740

I am able to use YouTube Music fine on the Google TV by itself (whether I cast from my phone or open the app directly on the TV).

The problems occur when I try to add the Google TV to a speaker group with any other devices.

All my other speakers work fine when they are in a speaker group WITHOUT the Google TV.

Hey Hubaca,

Thanks for the information. Let's go ahead and reboot your speakers, Chromecast with Google TV, and router by disconnecting it from the power source and leave it unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals. This will help us refresh the connection of your devices.

Also, make sure that your devices including your TV are within 15-20 ft. away from the router to make sure that it is getting a strong signal from your router.

Cheers,

Muddi

I have successfully created speaker groups with the Google TV and played YouTube Music without issue in the past. It was only recently that it began having issues. I'm still able to add the Google TV to a speaker group, it just won't cast properly.

On the Nest Help website, it has Chromecast with Google TV in the list of compatible devices. https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7174267?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid

I have done all of that multiple times with no success. I have factory reset the Chromecast twice now and it still has the same issue
